As there does not yet exist in the literature a nationwide study devoted to the Laurence-
Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BB syndrome), we felt justified in undertaking such a study in
Switzerland. The study deals in particular with the frequency, the clinical variability, the
mode of inheritance, the evolution and the nosological position of the syndrome, as
